“Liquid radioactive wastes disposal in deep-seated geological formations. The problem of interaction between liquid radioactive wastes and rocks”
The workshop will address the problems of radioactive wastes disposal in permeable rocks (deep-seated geological formations). Russia is the only country that implemented this project in three locations (Dimitrovgrad city, Ulyanovsk region; Seversk city, Tomsk region; Zheleznogorsk city, Krasnoyarsk region). The leading scientists and specialists in the field of radioactive waste management will discuss the fundamental problems of radioactive waste injection on the example of the Siberian Chemical Combine (Tomsk region). The features of the project implementation will be considered depending on the geodynamic, tectonic, magmatic, lithological peculiarities of the injection area and the resulting environmental problems. The results of experimental observations on liquid radioactive waste injections, thermodynamic models and calculations will also be presented.
